We have a registry at Babies R Us, but these are some additional items not available there.
Rockabye Music: Our friend, Chris pointed out how helpful it is to have children’s music that isn’t going to make you totally nuts! Toph and I are big music listeners, and I tend to get really irritated by music I don’t like (!) so I love this Rockabye concept. The library is fantastic and sometimes hysterical (i.e. I Wanna Be Sedated, The Ramones and Metallica).
Really Rosie CD/DVD: My mom played this music for us when we were kids (in fact, I think her school did a production of Really Rosie) and it brings back good memories.
Nutshell Library, Maurice Sendak
Baby food books (Annabel Karmel, Nina Planck): It would be awfully hypocritical of me to not make food for our baby, no? Maybe someday I’ll get to write one of these books myself.

The Muppet Show DVDs: The TV show of our youth! Several seasons, including The Best Of, available via Amazon, Barnes and Noble.
A few months ago, Serious Eats, the web blog Joy and I write a weekly column called Meat Lite for, put together this swell list of food-related toys that we thought was great. Here’s a favorite from the list, and a link to the list in entirety.

Young Explorer Lil Shopper Play Set
Serious Eats’ Gift Guide for the Food Plush Toy Lover
Books and stationery from the Amy K. Collection. I’ve been keeping tabs of this pregnancy in The Belly Book, gifted to me by my friend Amanda. I love the author’s style and think her note cards (Post Partum Cards and Brain Lint for moms) are funny. Her kids’ books look great, too.

Villanova Gear! A year or so ago the bookstore had a onesie that said “I’m being raised by Villanova Wildcats” which I loved. Who knows if it’s still there, but this kid is going to need some VU duds, especially since he/she is arriving during basketball season!
